We are all so busy these days. So keeping our house in order is often the last thing on our to-do list -- until an unexpected guest pops over. It’s the same way with our financial house. We often put off getting our finances in order -- until the unexpected happens.
 
Your financial house is not just the money in your checking account. Think of your Net Worth as a snapshot in time of exactly everything you own -- minus everything you owe. By having this snapshot in front of you -- you can see where you stand -- and what you need to do to reach your goals.
 
What is Money Matters?
Money Matters is just the program you’ve been waiting for! This partnership between Wesley and Louisville Presbyterian Seminary is designed for “moving to the next level.” Each participant will engage in hands-on workshops, seminars, and small groups offered by certified Life Insurance and Health Professionals, Lawyers, and CPAs.
 
What is the Financial Fast?
Money Matters will begin on September 11 with a Financial Fast at which time we will read Michelle Singletary’s Book entitled: “The 21 Day Financial Fast.” Singletary encourages her readers to free themselves from the capitalistic trappings of debt and materialism by developing a monthly budget that helps them reach their financial goals.
 
Time Commitment?
During your 9-month time commitment, participants will meet over a meal every Wednesday. Dinner serve from 5:00p to 5:45p and the sessions starts at 6:00p -- September through October weekly. Then sessions will continue every two weeks -- November through January -- and once a month -- February through June. Your commitment is required that you attend each of the sessions for a small minimal fee of $20.
 
What does the minimal fee cover?
Participants will receive free meals and resources such as workbooks, along with helpful articles, books, and budget planning worksheets. These resources will be used by participants to engage in different workshops and seminars on topics related to personal finances that will include budgeting, managing and eliminating debt, financial goal setting, investing, retirement planning, wills and trusts, and the importance of life and health insurance.
